Hot Stone Massage involves the use of heated basalt rocks applied with massage lotion or oil to reach the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Because the stones are heated, which assists in warming the body more quickly and allowing access to deeper layers of muscle tissue, the hot stone massage is often used as an alternative to deep tissue massage.

At Cloud 9 Day Spa in Chico we offer a 85 minute full body hot stone massage, which can be extended to whatever time the client prefers based on a prorated hourly rate. During this massage the massage therapist utilizes basalt stones of varying sizes throughout the massage to induce deep full body relaxation. Hot Stone Add-on. We also offer a hot stone add-on ($15) to our one hour massage for clients wanting to experience the effects of hot stone on two to three areas of the body that need deeper work. Although the hot stone add-on uses fewer stones and they are not applied to the entire body, as they would be for the 1.5 hour hot stone massage, it is a great alternative if you are pressed for time or on a budget.
